The Wild Outback (October 2024) 1.0 Changes
- Reduced story levels from 16 to 8.
- Special Levels were removed.
- 5 playable characters were removed.
- Haunted Survival removed.
These 4 things above were removed due to game bloat. I noticed that many of the levels weren't really fleshed out too well, and a lot of these levels and characters felt too samey... This game was designed with simplicity in mind. I don't want the game to feel longer and more complex than it actually is. So, in exchange for the loss of these levels, I've decided to flesh out the remaining levels.
- The game runs a lot smoother. This game desperately needed object pooling due to its chaotic nature. The game shouldn't stutter / freeze so easily now.
- Enemy projectiles are slower and easier to dodge.
- Removed 3 cheat codes.
- Fixed High Score system. You can now see your High Scores for every level in the game in the settings menu.
- New music.
- Updated game artwork.
- Survival Night is the final unlockable level. Unlock Survival Night mode by completing the Arcade.
- Beating the Arcade unlocks all levels.
- Leveling up always heals the player.
- Leveling up no longer spawns a random ally / powerup.
- Leveling up slightly increases all player weapons' fire rate. (When holding mouse button down)
- Removed player passive healing. Players can no longer be unarmed to heal.
- Added 3 on-screen buttons to tell what weapon the player is using.
- Buffed cactus healing. Every level has 2 cacti that you can heal from.
- The final boss has 1 new phase.
- Car and cannon death explosions hurt other enemies.
- Can only now gain XP from getting collectibles and getting hurt.
- Some level bosses have a 2nd phase.
- Some level bosses have more health.
- Removed shotgun ally AND enemy.
- Removed Hunter ally from level 8. Changed Chuck's weapon to Uzi (From shotgun). Chuck now fires when the player fires their weapon.
- Increased game gravity from -9.81 to -25. All rigidbodies should no longer be floaty. Player's jump force increased.
- Added sounds for when the player jumps, and when the player bumps into buildings / props.
- Leveling up has been scaled down. For every level up, player gains 25 max hp instead of 5. Each level up increases the weapon fire rate even faster. XP requirements for each level increased.
- Changed graphics to only render hard shadows.
- Some level lighting has been updated.
- Fixed Loading / Splash screen not being a Sprite, it no longer looks like trash.
- Removed some bullet outlines. Some player projectiles are now black.
- Added back rotating skybox for intro 2 and Title screen.
